House Of Cards Season 5(Homecoming Of Terror)
When it’s about politics we naturally become attracted due to its vastness, does not matter whether we are the supporters of certain political parties(Personalities) or politically neutral. Politics is always about a long journey especially when the leader achieves something great like being a PM or President.
Now when a television show comes with such a journey it will attract us for sure especially when it’s not a long running show which gradually becomes monotonous.
House of Cards is such a television series, a drama on politics, based on the novel by Michael Dobbs.
House of Cards first became on aired in the year 2013 with 13 episodes and in next three consecutive years it launched its 2nd, 3rd and 4th series and now in this year House of Cards has started the sequel with season 5. This show has already received huge positive reviews and has bagged 33 Primetime Emmy award nominations.
House of Cards is about a journey of a power hunger democrat named Francis Underwood, a highly intricate planner, a manipulator and tricky one. Season one is about the journey of Frank from Secretary of State to Vice President with the help of his wife Clarie Underwood and in the next three episodes he becomes the President.
It was expected that this show will get a stable note and was about to lose its attraction from the viewers when Frank became President Coz a tough journey was already completed. But in the beginning of the episode it banged up with the audacious dialogue of Frank…”I will not yield, I will not because I can’t”
The beginning of season 5 has some masterstrokes to catch the viewers attentions, it has really broken my notion that this show will get a stable tone, this sequel of House of Cards is named “Homecoming of terror” and you can easily guess with which it will dealt, The beheading of Jim Miller, an average American, raised a threat on the security of the Americans and simultaneously thrown a challenge against Govt, here another interesting thing can be observed, that is…Joshua Masterson whom we have seen in last two episodes of season 4 has come up with immense potentiality. After the Miller’s death the hatred against the President got a high peak, Frank announce war against terrorists, the people did not like his decision, the daughter of Miller(in the Funeral of her father) whispered in the ear of Frank “I wish you die and she (Claire) becomes the President” reflects people’s view towards Frank.
The show could be less interesting if it would only focus on the war against terror that Frank has already declared but there are something more in the show, you may find some Spoilers in this post but I will try my level best to make it spoiler free.
So what are the things happening in parallel with the terrorist attack?…the Presidential election is ahead, Frank wants to see Claire as Vice-President and he also wants to strengthen his hold for the Presidential post for more years. Frank has to defeat Will Conway who is also in the race of Presidential Selection; Frank knows Will Conway can go any extent to defeat Frank.
To take a good hold on the terrorists Frank makes the Us Visa rules very strict, this step has so much similarity with the decision of Mr. Trumph.
The first episode of Season 5 has ended with so many questions in mind…
Why Melissa, the daughter of Miller, an average American hates Frank so much? …this one could not be such a big question if Miller would have any connection with politics.
Will Frank be able to catch Joshua?
Who will win the election?
Another big doubt this show has created is…in previous shows Frank used to look at the camera and used to deliver some high potential dialogues but in this season we can see Claire doing the same thing…does it mean she is gonna take the position of Frank?
The first episode ended with Franks’ soliloquy…”You have nothing to be afraid of”.
